Gartner Research for April 2002 - have knocked out the usual index of web-related publications in the latest research from Gartner. Includes a couple of articles on Search technology, web services, mobile technology, and a roundup of web development and authoring software.

Law are now using WaikCookie (link)

Law are now using WaikCookie on Obelix for course material. The folder currently only requires a valid authticated user. Jamie has modded the module to not redirect back to port 80, which although isnt technically a problem, I bet socially it would have been :-)

Will let the dust settle for a few days then knock out an email to the key web admins around campus who host stuff on Obelix that is currenty restricted using IP address or cheap authentication methods

xpath command line tool (link)

xpath command line tool that was installed with the XML::XPath perl module on both machines, makes learning XPath a cinch and debugging scripts a lot easier. You can call it from a shell with the 1st paramater of XML source, and the 2nd the query you want to run against it. e.g..

xpath temp.xml "/linkreport/pages/page[last()]"
