Raising Alexandria Library (link) Raising Alexandria Library - Having read a couple of Lawrence Durrel's novels I was fascinated by his tales of the seedier side of life in Alexandria, but when I actually visited Egypt years later the only drawcards were sites where the great ancient Lighthouse and Library used to stand, there wasn't actually anything left of them. Now it seems the Library has been rebuilt. 5:34:15 PM |
The Robots Are Coming (link) The Robots Are Coming - "In Los Angeles they have a hostage situation every three days" says Greiner, who is iRobot’s president. "Standard procedure is not to send in a police officer." Which is where robots come in. 5:32:07 PM |
Data-Driven navigational layout (link) Data-Driven navigational layout - We've been talking recently about the potential of a CGI i/f to a database or XML store so non-tech folks on-campus can create logical navigational structures, and have these included (using SSI etc) into their web content. The structure could then be rendered into multiple forms for different styles or page-layouts (either user or owner selectable) . Dave Nicholls FWD'd me a link to a site written in PHP which appears to enable just that. I sent off an email to the site-owners to find out a little more about the mechanism. He replied 30-mins later saying its just embedded in the PHP page, nothing fancy. 11:32:01 AM |
