Apache 2 Released for General Availability - according to the official announcement improvements over the current version 1.3 include... general performance boost, greater scalability, ability to run in thread/process mode on supporting platforms, expected equal performance on all platforms, native embedded support for SSL and WebDAV.  According to the Slashdot response there still seem to be some issues with compiling in PHP support, especially statically.
