The Stuff Chilli's Are Made Of (link)
I was looking over the items for sale at thinkgeek.com today and happened accross a breakdown of Capsaicin strength of various peppers printed on a t-shirt for sale. I'm a Chilli nut, and cant resist adding a few extra to any old meal, dinner, breakfast, corn-flakes, anything really, so I was kinda interested in this (units are Scoville's)... 0-100 - most Bell/Sweet pepper varieties. While I was searching round for images of Chillis for this post, I came accross this great photo of a couple dressed up as Chillis, the perfect outfit for your next Mexican theme'd party. 5:55:55 PM |
Hamilton Cows on the Map (link) I'm not talking about our women folk here, but the quadrapedal variety of 'real' cows that we commonly harvest for milk...and meat. Scientists at a local research unit here in Hamilton (NZ) have created the world's first cow clones (actually their trans-genic, but clone sounds a little more controversial) that produce special milk that can increase the speed and ease of cheese-making. As long as this doesn't also cause them to increase the rate at which they fart then the environment should be safe, and I guess the whole gene thingymagig is OK by me. Carry on dudes, you have full clearance from me. 5:50:54 PM |
Gibson to Embed Guitars with Ethernet (link) I've been known to play the odd G or C cord on an out of tune beach house guitar every now and then, so I'd hardly call myself a guitarist, but this discussion at Slashdot intrigued me. It seems that Gibson (if you have to ask who the company is you've probably stopped reading already) is to build a new range of guitars that use digital computer cabling to connect the instrument to the amp. Actually, I think the thing that suprised me most about this topic being discussed on Slashdot, is the depth of knowlegde of music demonstrated by what is probably the geekiest community on the web. 5:39:49 PM |
