DeeKnow’s Grotto

I finally plucked up enough courage yesterday to get out for a ride with the local group of (mostly) Ducati owners, and had an absolute blast!!!. Poor Kym got an ear-bashing about just-how-much-fun-it-was for most of the evening.

There were eight of us in the end and we covered about 400kms over the course of the day, riding up and around the Coromandel peninsula through some great terrain, loads of corners, plenty of hills and a few decent straights every now and then for a blow-out.

I was the only one on a 600 which was kinda funny coz it meant my wee machine was about half (or less) the price of basically every other bike in the group (except for the weathered GSX1100 cunningly disguised as a Ducati in it's red paint job).

The rest of the machines were nice new 2-valve 750's or 4-valve 748 or 900's, and they all looked and sounded wicked.

Up till now I've been mostly riding solo apart from the odd blast every now and then with my flatmate (who's bike is currently out of action) and the thing that's kept me from going out with this group has been the fear of being left behind.

Not everyone was goin balls-out thank God so I managed to stick with a few others who were catching a bit of scenery along the way. No injuries sustained apart from an aching left-hand (damn those heavy Ducati clutches).

I cannae wait to get out again !!!
