Back in the U . S . A .
Well we made it, flight was just as unncomfortable as they usually
are, got sat next to some phscho woman who looked really nervous, she
caused a scene at one point when everyone in our row had to get out of
their seats so we could all look for a knitting needle she'd dropped,
reckoned she needed to keep here hands busy so we were happy to help
out in case she went berserk!!.
There was another scene a row in front of us when some old bag tried
to negotiate a new seat (didnt want to sit next to the mother/baby that
we were also freaking about), after about an hour of talking with
hostesses she finally got out of our lives. So apart from her and
knitting-kneedler there really wasnt much in flight entertainment to
speak of. The movies sucked too.
Arrival at LAX involved the usual tedious security checks, but wasnt
too bad, everyone seemed less stressed about it than when I was here in
2002, the whole 911 thing has definately died down. We got our shuttle
up to Portland after a couple of hours in LA and was amazed at how
friggin dry and barren California looked from the air, ugly man, give
me wet waikato anytime. Oregon couldnt be any more different to
California, it's relatively green, mostly I guess coz its got a couple
of decent rivers flowing through it and is surrounded by forested
mountains and shit.
Portland is ... really NEEeet, sure, yeah, why not ...
actually it really is. Clean and tidy, wicked transport system (as long
as you dont ming sharing it with loopies and hoboes), people seemed
laid-back and unlike LA you can actually see clear blue skies (not a
hint of smog)
