Thievery, Meditation and Hallucinations
This Is Your Brain On Zen. From a press release by Emory University: Zen meditation is an ancient spiritual practice that promotes awareness and presence through the undivided engagement of mind and body. For thousands of years, many religious traditions have made meditation a common practice. Now, researchers at Emory University are looking at the effects of Zen meditation and how the brain functions during meditative states Simulating Hallucinations - When psychiatrists are facing mentally disturbed people, they often find difficult to understand their patients' hallucinations. A team at the University of Queensland has written software that renders a three-dimensional environment, something like the game Quake, to help them and their patients. Doctor Stringer replies: "bugger the expensive software, feed the weido's some mushies and lets have some fun" Stealing Coals from Manchester - Thieves snatched two computers from a Hong Kong trade fair last week, a particularly brazen act considering that the victims were security companies showing off the latest crime-stopping technology, and the trade fair was focused on security products.
