Big Mother Truckers (link)
Big Mother Truckers - check out this article at New-Scientist about monster-trucks used for carrying mining ore. These beasts weigh in at 224 tons empty, can carry a 400 ton load at up to 60km/h on the flat, and are powered by a 3500HP diesel engine which in turn generates electricity to feed independent electric motors on the rear-axles. When the engineer responsible for the design of the things is asked What's it like to drive? ... his response is ... "Its like driving a house". Man, I wonder what Jesse James would do with one of these babies if he got the chance. 11:49:04 PM |
