16,000 Internet Cafes Closed In China - according to the article referenced at shithappens.com...

Over the last three months, the Chinese government has closed 16,000 internet cafes, following a campaign in the country aimed at protecting children and adolescents from corrosive influences.

Man, thats a crap-load of cafes, but it seems they were mostly unlicensed operations. How dare they provide an information sharing resource unlicenced. Maybe this is why there are so many Chinese in the caf's in downtown Auckland at all hours of the night. (I'm not racist by the way... some of my best friends.....)
