Space Rocks Broke my Roof (link)
This is kinda neeeet. On the TV news tonight and reported on various web pages in NZ (and around the world)...
Apparently the couple have been offered reasonable sums of money from overseas "space junk collectors". No doubt the greedy suckers will take the money and export the little gem, but I'm with the NZ scienctists who want to keep the thing here. Auckland Uni did some sort of carbon-dating kinda thing and it turns out the sucker is about 4.5 Billion years old, which has it being created about the same time our solar-system was formed. Speaking of suprises coming through ones roof, I was just telling a similar story to someone a couple of days ago. My Father used to own a roofing business and one of his staff was working on a house roof when the panels gave way and he went crashing through the ceiling into the room below. The funiest thing was that he landed in an armchair right next to the owners of the house who were sitting on their lounge-suite watching telly at the time.... No doubt it scared the living Jesus outta the poor buggers. 7:36:13 PM |
