Worlds Most Impatient Man It seems I really am getting more tolerant of delay and inconvenience as I get older. One of my mottos used to be "Patience is a Waste of Time" (you can quote me on that ;-) which is why I'm suprising myself over my controlled reaction to the state of my web hosting service. Over the last few months, the local company that hosts deeknow.com had outages every week or so that would last for part of a day till service resumed. On Friday I received an email from them saying basically that the hosting thing had become too much of a burden for them (ie, too much work) and they were gonna pull the plug, which they promptly did. I know, its hardly the busiest site on the web, but In the past I would have been furious. My face would have reddened, I woulda fired off a shitty email, I might even have considered stropping over in my car to have a go at them (well, that might be stretching it) But not this time. I am totally indifferent to the whole issue. I even considered sending them an email saying 'dont sweat it' and 'better luck next time'. Man, what a softy. Talk about turning over a new leaf. Update: Have been out for the night drinking beer and playstation-ing with friends and got back home just now to see that the DNS changes had gone through, and my old site is now available at my new hosts ... WebDrive. Changed the web publishing tool I use (Radio) to push to the new site and a few minutes later... voila !! viva la DeeKnow.com !! After 3 days of outage, its great to be back. Did U miss me?. I cant even begin to imagine how the thousands of you out there got on without me. :-) 1:03:17 AM |
