XMAS Shopping Stress (link)

Oh God, its that time again. Being the worlds greatest procrastinator I'm starting to feel the must-buy pressure now. Other people are even adding to my stress levels by telling me they've allready finished their shopping.

Fortunately this year I've actually got my shit together for a change and started a presents-to-buy-for-people list on my palm-pilot. Any time I think or see or hear of something appropriate I just log it on the trusty palm and forget about it.

Now that I've actually got a list, I don't have to do what normally happens to me, where I wander around town like a mindless zombie, looking at stuff for myself instead of focusing on things for others, ending up buying bugger all, and go home even more stressed than I was before.

Japanese Satellite to monitor Whales (link)

according to an article at space.com a rocket launched on Sunday and successfully delivered its payload, an Australian communications sattelite, into orbit around Earth.

A Japanese satellite was also onboard which was "designed by a university to monitor the movements and behavior of whales over the next 1- 2 years".

The plan to launch the whale-monitoring sattelite wasn't popular with environmental groups like Greenpeace of course, a spokesman saying in a BBC article in January..."Even before the advent of satellite technology, whales didn't stand a chance. What hope have they now?"

German cannibal finds victims on Net (link)

now this is spooky, its one thing to see it at the movies but another to hear about real-life cannibals living in modern cities of so called 1st-world countries feasting on human-flesh.

According to this article at timesonline, a German cannibal said in court that...

"he and the victim fried and ate part of the victim’s body before leaving the kitchen for the slaughtering room, where Herr M switched on the camera and then stabbed Herr B to death. He hung the body upside down on a meat hook to allow the blood to drain and later sliced it into small chunks, which he wrapped and stored in the deep-freeze. Herr M has been eating Herr B ever since"..
