V8 Supercars at Pukekohe (link)
V8 Supercars at Pukekohe - It was my birthday on Sunday and my brilliant missus Kym shouted me a trip up to Pukekohe to go to day-three of the V8-supercars meet. (when she told her mechanic she'd organised it for me he said 'jeeeze, your a grouse girlfriend' :-) This is the second year that little 'ole New Zealand has appeared on the Australian Supercars series circuit which means us Kiwi's (around 40,000 of us) get to see all the big race teams we normally only see on Television during the race at Bathurst. The whole Ford vs Holden thing was bloody hillarious, Ford fans being in the minority the blue-brigade bogans made sure to make up for things with as many slurs and obscenities as they could without getting beaten up by their red and white wearing Holden favouring arch-enemies. The NZ favourite Greg Murphy ended up taking the Pukekohe leg of the series on points, and I tell you what, its one thing seeing the big V8's on the telly, its another hearing the bugger's screaming at you as they fly past on the track. It's friggin amazing how they keep those monstrosities on the track, must be a helluvah workout. Apart from the V8 races there were also a few other classes in action on the track. Early in the day there was a Porsche event which featured half a dozen Porsche GT3's which looked and sounded GREAT. Some of the more pleasing-to-the-eye off track entertainment included the fabulous VB-girls, and a couple of topless harlet's advertising the exotica expo on in Auckland soon. Of course I wasn't actually looking at these poor lasses, I only heard about it from the other blokes sitting next us. :-) 5:11:05 PM |
