Good for a Laugh (link)
Comedian: Ewen Gilmour

A bunch of us went to see some live stand-up comedy at a local venue here in Hamilton on Friday night, and Jesus-H it was a great night. The show was MC'd by Brendhan Lovegrove who was brilliant, and featured a half a dozen comedians who were all pretty friggin funny in their own way.

With my sieve-like memory I can't remember any of the performers names (apart from Ewen Gilmour) so there's piss-all chance of me recalling any of the jokes either, but its pretty safe to say that as long as you can tolerate liberal doses of crudity in your humour, you would have enjoyed the night as much as we did.

One of the hilights of the night were the two drunken idiots near the front who attempted something resembling heckling but ended up coming off as total tossers, much to the delight of the comedians who crucified them for our entertainment.

Position Available: Klingon Interpreter - If you know any big-time star-trek fans you better point them in the direction of this article on the Sydney Morning Herald. Apparently fluent speakers of the Klingon language (created for the "Star Trek" TV series and movies) are required as it is one of about 55 needed by the office that treats mental health patients in Oregon, USA.

Hi-Tech Mobile Surgery

Hi-Tech Mobile Surgery - While pondering whether to get out of bed this morning I popped the old idiot-box on in time to catch the morning news and an article about a new type of surgery going on right-at-this-minute in Christchurch. A pair of NZ surgeons are about to remove a kidney from a patient using laporoscopy (or whatever they call the method where they work with a camera through a small hole in you rather than a huge-gash).

What's novel about the operation is they've never done it before (Eeeek) so are performing it with a live-video-link to a doctor in Brisbane who's gonna mentor them through the process. Plus the whole shebang is happening onboard a hi-tech looking bus parked outside the hospital and kitted out as a surgery. Sounds very experimental, I hope the poor patient has good medical-insurance.
