Another weekend comes and goes (link)
and still no war in Iraq, come on the "good guys" lets have some action, otherwise we'll be bored to death by national news. On the plus side, we have had a visit by Australian PM John Howard who's talking about a missile defense shield around Australia in case Korea fire a few ICBMs their way. We New Zealanders wont be able to afford this of course so we'll probably try a fishing-net shield or something similar. Poor old John is also being snubbed by the Green Party who have stated "they will not be attending the state luncheon" I image John is most upset about this. Friday night we had my Mum, my Sister and her boyfriend round to our new house for dinner. Kymbo cooked a fish curry that turned out well despite her earlier attempts to sabotage it with a tablespoon of fish-sauce, can you spell S..A..L..T..Y ? Saturday we went to one of Kym's workmates wedding. It was an excellent minimal-tradition-affair free of the usual boring speeches and ceremony, basically straight into the boozing after a simple vow exchange. I managed to get the jump on Kym by about two hours and introduced myself to the groom, a couple of juicy brownine points for me. Apparently the couple have been going out for about 18 years, this was music to my ears. I didn't get to write in the journal thingy on the night, so "Nice one Rose and Nev, Thanx, and Best Wishes". I bought myself a new $320 rear tire (Bridgestone 020) for my bike on the weekend, and on Sunday got out with a few others for blast over to Raglan, then down to Otorohonga and back. 200km or so of weaving roads and good weather. The traffic was pretty thick going over the hills to the coast so it made for some fun overtaking, all performed in accordance with the Road Code of course. 1:51:16 PM |
