Another Near-miss Asteroid - Astronomers have revealed that on 14 June, an asteroid the size of a football pitch made one of the closest ever recorded approaches to the Earth. What has worried some astronomers, though, is that the space object was only detected on 17 June, several days after its flyby.

Robot On The Run in England- Scientists running a pioneering experiment with "living robots" which think for themselves said they were amazed to find one escaping from the centre where it "lives". The small unit, called Gaak, was one of 12 taking part in a "survival of the fittest" test at the Magna science centre in Rotherham, South Yorkshire.

Annotation Server for user comments - have modified the original script I bashed out in February as an emulation of the Manilla comments server, and made the script more generic for annotations of web content. Have a look at this page and click on the inline notepad GIF's about halfway down the page.

The script extracts your username from a WaikCookie and will present an error if there's none present. When you submit a comment you can click the edit icon again to review or delete that comment. Give it a thrashing and view the source to see how it works. Feedback to me so I can get it ready for prime-time and look at using it a little wider.
