Handhelds for Students (link)

Handhelds for Students - is the topic of a thread at SlashDot this week. The concept is generally getting the thumbs down, with educator-types citing issues like I/F problems, getting info into/out of the devices, lack of robustness, distractions of the device (games etc), lesson-plan change requirements etc. Seems to be more interest in getting back to basics rather than introducing technology.

There was an article from Gartner on the topic in November last year, which concluded...

PDAs and smart phones will not replace PCs anytime soon. However, institutions must plan now for their emergence and manage campus expectations.
