A month goes flying by...

This is definitely some kind of record for me over the last few years. I've just spent pretty much a whole month avoiding my PC at home in the evenings. No complaints from her-indoors of course, I just seem to have had no inclination to put tips to keys at home for the last few weeks.

I think playing the Isle of Man TT on the PS2 has been a reasonable distraction, but so has the broken Joystick which I disassembled recently in an attempt to fix a dodgy pot and never quite got around to soldering it back together again, so the flight-sim is pretty much out of bounds (ever tried flying a plane with a keyboard?)

Another factor has been a distinct lack of writing energy

I hope the Bastard Operator hasn't figured out that I've been blogging, coz coincidentally about a month ago he dissed bloggers at the morning tea BBQ table much to every ones delight. He'll think he's had a minor victory causing me to defect from the pursuit.

Seems like a lot has happened this month, news wise.

Domestically, the All Blacks destroyed the Lions on their tour down-under, the Black-caps have gone to Zimbabwe after months of debate, Graham Capill (former leader of the Christian Heritage Party) was sentenced to nine years for sexual abuse of three young girls, Helen Clark's personal Driver takes the fall for her high-speed must-get-to-the-game driving antics, and the country goes crazy trying to guess which two celebrity sports-people are the ones busted for cocaine possession.

Internationally the London bombing thing got lots of press (civil liberties will take another big slide in the UK as a result). The Live-8 thing happened apparently (actually I did catch some of it). NASA managed to destroy a probe by parking it in front of a high-speed Comet then launched their first Shuttle in over two years. London secured hosting of the 2012 Olympic games, and Lance Armstrong won the Tour de France... again. The Provisional IRA issues a statement formally ordering an end to the armed campaign it has pursued since 1969.
