Social Climbing ... Again. (link)

After a multi-moon hiatus our group of likely lads has found our mojo once again and gotten back down to the climbing wall in Frankton. We're pretty much all gadget freeks in our own way so have bought all the gear of course, and thats always a motivating factor when you've been slack at attendance, but this climbing lark is definately something a little special.

We're not there coz we think we have to, we're there coz we're having a fuckn ball doin it. Jeeze its a great little sport. The real thing out on the rock face is bloody exciting in a different way, but this indoor whatsit has the convenience of goin to the Gym, with a little adventure added to the mix.

You really cant beat reaching out for that hold above you knowing there's a reasonable chance you wont actually make it and may plumet back down towards the mat. Of course the harness and rope do their thing to protect you, but that element of danger is really bloody thrilling.

I'll always be deeply indepted to Ricardo for not only introducing us to climbing (in fact we'd all had a crack at it before) but for showing us the ropes so to speak and fostering an actual longer term interest in climbing as a sport, not just an activity. Under Inspector Rayner's wing we've really started to build some useful skills.

Two climbs a week seems to be getting us back on track after the break. We had a decent session at lunchtime today so I took the wee box-brownie down to get some snaps while we were at it. Bloody great stuff.
