Funghi Hunting (link)

I had a blissful 4-hour session of PS2 Isle-of-Man yesterday morning while her highness slept in but was eventually dispatched to Lawn Mowing duties when she finally arose (after midday I might add :-)

On the way to the tool shed I spotted a wee community of white toadstills gathered at the edge of the lawn. This was a nice distraction from lawn-mowing so I got down on my creeky knees and gave them a good looking over. Amazingly, a casual glance around the same area revealed two other species of the little fungal fellahs.

I'm no David Belamy but by now I was actually getting pretty excited. I popped back in the house (quietly least Pederson acuse me of side-tracking) grabbed my camera and took a few snaps of the mushies, then headed off on an adventure right round the house to see just how diverse the range of them was.

It must be the right time of the season right now (I have no idea myself) coz after about half an hour I'd spotted three other forms of mushroom and/or toadstil. Pretty cool. Took some snaps of them all and the areas they were in. Be real interesting to see if they pop up in future in the same places.

Oh, and in case you're wondering, no there wasn't any mushroom soup on the menu in the evening, didn't fancy ending up in the hospital, Health or Mental.
