Jibbed by the Weather-man (link)
this morning we woke to the frightening sounds of wind lashing and shaking the house and heavy rain pounding the bedroom window. It was 6am and Hamilton was experiencing a storm, a relatively infrequent event, and small by international standards, but exciting none-the-less. It seemed to pass over fairly quickly, so once we'd confirmed the cat was OK (I was instructed to get up and confirm it) and that the windows were wound up on the car (once again, I had to make a naked dash out the driveway to the car in the freezing rain) we managed to calm down and get back to sleep. The alarm went off at its usual time. I have no idea what that time is, coz as usual I ignored it and went back to sleep while Kym got up to start doing all the things women have to do before going to work. The storm was well and truely over by the sounds, but I figured I'd check the Breakfast news on TV One and turned on the telly in the bedroom just in time to catch the 8am weather round-up. The weather man was talking about the storm affecting the North Island and making its way down the country, it sounded like the drama was over so my mind began to switch off and I started to drift back to sleep, but then I hear him say "for those of you in Hamilton, take care driving to work this morning as the worst of the storm will hit you in an hour or two" Oh no!!! I'm riding a bike to work at the moment, and as it sounds like I'm gonna be getting a wet arse I leap out of bed hoping to beat the worst of it and start my 15 minute program that gets me out the door on the way to work. As I step out of the front-door though I realise the skies are clear, no threat of rain, that dumb-arse weather man Mike Hall was talking about the 6am peak that woke us up two hourse earlier, he was obviously reading out a dated weather report. Damn !!! Duped by the Weather Man !!! ... I coulda slept in for another half-hour at least. 12:39:41 PM |
