Dynamic Navigation Methods Explored (link) Dynamic Navigation Methods Explored - Gian and I did some implementation and testing of a couple of methods of presenting dynamic navigation structures in web pages using SSI calls (based on notes I made in May). The results were fairly predictable (in fact I even guessed an order of magnitude difference :-) ... Method | Time Taken Have saved detailed benchmark results for later review but whats obvious is that the pre-crawl and fetch from database model is going to place less demand on machine resources, however the XML index and transform model is likely to be less fragile. ie if files get moved you dont have to update dbase references, the crawler just picks up the new folder at next visit. 5:33:58 PM |
