Ski Trip 2004 Turoa

Kym and I made another trip to Ruapehu in August this year (2004) and stayed in a rental chalet in Ohakune. The elements were against us but we still head a nice winter break.

Being early midweek the field was pretty quiet and the marginal weather meant things at the top-of-the-bruce cafe were low key

A happy face while it lasted as we got in a half days skiing at Whakapapa early in the week. It snowed all morning and by the arvo was too windy so the mountain closed.

It snowed that night so we headed up to the junction for a couple of quiets, and a nice walk back to town later in the snow.

A nice bit of coverage was starting to form back in the village. This was in the street just outside our cabin as it was finally begining to settle without melting.

Kym in the snow shower as we left the Margeruita's bar on the way back to the cabin. The conditions were really mild and the snow was a real gentle drift. Feels so sureal coz you expect it to be freezing cold and uncomfortable, but was quite neat to walk home in.
