Bike vs Car Fun
I just got home from a short service ride on my 600 duke which I've got in storage at someone elses garage at the moment. I warmed the little red fellah up and ambled around the country roads between Hamilton and Cambridge for awhile then cruised back into town thru Hillcrest.
We've got a nice stretch of two-lane carriage-way that runs from Hillcrest past the Hamilton Gardens and crosses the Waikato river on the Cobham bridge before running up into the South end of the Hamilton CBD. Its just recently been re-sealed with a sublimely smooth hot-mix.
As I was picking my way through the traffic on the carriage-way I catch up to this well turned out Black M-series BMW which was also making good progress thru the traffic. The driver spots me in his rear-view mirror and apparently floors-it to evade me as I approach.
Now, I'm not one to make a nuisence of myself on the road, but I cant resist a challenge from a car, especially when its a sporty one. So I open up my modestly powered twin and trace the beamer's line as we both rumble down towards the big new round-about at the entrance to the gardens.
We both brake heavily approaching the roundabout, I take a quick glance right to check theres no traffic making a turn, duck out from behind the beamer, flick the duke left a little, then crank it over to the right and pass the tin-pot on the outside lane of the two lane roundabout and leave him in a tail of brake-dust as I blast off down the straight. Of course, he'd say he'd backed off.
What fun!! U gotta love 2-wheeled vehicle performance dont ya?
