I bought myself a Ducati 600ss this year so thought I'd gather some Usenet threads together here that cover questions and answers related to the bike.

From: Mathew Kay Subject: Re: 600SS Piston Slap Newsgroups: alt.motorcycles.ducati My 600SS has got a wobbly front piston due to a design fault resulting from the piston having a short skirt, and an eccentric stroke (ie horizontal not directly up and down). I have been told that even if the cylinder is relined and the piston replaced this fault could recur very quickly. Has anyone else had this and have you been able to do anything to resolve it permanently ? Mathew Kay
Reply From: Hugzy (hugzy@zeelandnet.nl) Date: 2000/03/09 Just thought i'd let you know, I've got an old 900ss and i've had it about 9 years and all the time i've had it it's had piston slap when cold. Last September i had it rebored and put new pistons in and there is still a hint of piston slap, i'll just have to live with it. Bye . Steve.
