Iain Macpherson's five-year association with Kawasaki was over by 2001. The Scot joined the UK importer's British Superbikes squad in 1997 joining Terry Rymer and Steve Hislop on the squad and spent two seasons racing a ZX-7RR in BSB finishing 6th overall in 1997.

The Scot spent three years in Eckl's Kawasaki world supersport team finishing 2nd overall in 1999 after three wins and a couple of other podium placings during the year. He then spent the 2003 season racing a CBR600RR in the WSS championship.
