Name: Doug Chandler A one-time dirt track racer, his association with the green-team started in 1988 and his last season was 2001. Chandler began road racing in 1983 in several AFM races, started AMA racing in 1984 in the old Formula One class, and had his first national win in 1988 in the Mid-Ohio Pro Twins race on a Honda. In 1989 Chandler finished the AMA series 5th overall after wins during the year at Lexington and Topeka. In 1990 he won the series convincingly on a Team Muzzy run Kawasaki H2 model ZXR after winning at Loudon, Elkhart Lake, Miami and Lexington. He also finished second that year in the AMA 750 Supersport series (behind Kawasaki teammate Scott Russell)
Chandler left the AMA series in 1991 and Spent '92 on a Lucky Strike sponsored Suzuki then moved to Moto GP in 1993 helping develop and then racing a Cagiva machine with then teammate Matt Mladin. Although he didnt have any wins on the Cagiva he did manage 6 podium finishes. Back in the AMA again for 1996 and racing a Kawasaki Chandler won the series following wins at Monterey and Las Vegas, narrowly beating 2nd placed (and former Kawasaki rider) Miguel Du Hamel. A similar story in 1997 where Chandlder beat Duhamel and took another championship by a slender margin, this time after only winning one race during the year, at Monterey. In 1998 Chanlder finished 2nd overall in the AMA series, beaten by then Honda rider Ben Bostrom. And in 1999 despite winning at Loudon, Lexington and Fountain the Kawasaki rider finished the series 4th overall in the year that now Suzuki rider Matt Mladin began his current winning streak in the AMA championship. Chandler's contract with Muzzy was not renewed for 2002.
